Students use simulations to refine the timing and duration of a wearable alert algorithm.

Module Overview

Students choose features of a computer algorithm that could be used to improve their wearable alert so that it only alarms at specified times. Students test and refine their algorithm against computer-generated scenarios.

  • Computational tools used: MATLAB Live Scripts (free web-based application)

Students use physical and computer simulations to start developing a timer algorithm for their wearable alerts.

Students continue to refine their timer algorithms and test them using a simulation of user behavior over a longer time period. Students consider whether a computer simulation is sufficient for testing their alert algorithms.
