Discover how Engineering is Elementary evolved into Youth Engineering Solutions and how our STEM resources continue to grow to support today’s learners and educators. This webinar explores the evolution from EiE to YES, highlighting updated curriculum, educator supports, and engineering challenges like Pumpkin Pollinators and Parachutes that reflect authentic, hands-on learning experiences.
Workshops & Conferences
June 30 - July 2, 2026 | In-person
Youth Engineering Solutions Progressions: A PreK–8 Workshop Series
Discover how engineering and computer science learning grow from early childhood through middle school in the YES Progressions Workshop Series. Join all three days for a full PreK–8 overview or choose the day that best matches your grade band. By the end, you’ll be ready to teach YES units, confidently engage students in authentic engineering, and lead and support other educators implementing authentic, open-ended challenges.
Day 1 – Engineering in Early Childhood: Explore early engineering through Wee Engineer challenges and design sun hats using the Engineering Design Process.
Day 2 – Elementary Engineering + CS: Create wearable safety vests using electrical circuits and program micro:bit signal bracelets that communicate key messages.
Day 3 – Middle School Engineering + CS: Engineer vision extenders and learn how computers detect exoplanets by analyzing light-curve patterns.

Youth Engineering Solutions Progressions: A PreK–8 Workshop Series
Explore how young learners grow as engineers and computational thinkers in the YES Progressions Workshop Series. Join all three days for a full PreK–8 overview or choose the day that best matches your grade band. By the end, you’ll be ready to teach YES units, confidently engage students in authentic engineering, and lead and support other educators implementing authentic, open-ended challenges.
Day 1 – Engineering in Early Childhood: Explore early engineering through a kindergarten trash collector challenge and design a nightlight using the Engineering Design Process.
Day 2 – Elementary Engineering + CS: Engineer a filter to reduce plastic waste entering the ocean. Then train an online photo-classification model to distinguish animals from trash, applying machine learning to a real environmental issue
Day 3 – Middle School Engineering + CS: Engineer an earthquake-resistant building by exploring height, soil type, and structural supports, then program micro:bits to transmit accelerometer data as a model of an early warning system.
